This week, my daughter found the prayers and Bible verses I had secretly hidden under her mattress. I was inspired by Candace Cameron Bure, who shared this beautiful idea of praying over our children in this quiet, personal way. While I won’t share the exact prayers, I want to offer some examples to help you get started with your own prayers for your children. These prayers are simple but powerful, and they can have a lasting impact on your child’s life.

Example Prayers and Verses to Pray Over Your Kids:
1. Matthew 22:37
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
Prayer Example:
“Lord, I pray that my child loves You with all their heart, soul, and mind. May they seek You first in all things and walk closely with You every day.”
2. Philippians 4:6
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Prayer Example:
“Father, help my child turn to You in every situation, trusting that You hear their prayers. May they find peace in Your presence and rely on You in times of worry.”
3. Psalm 32:8
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”
Prayer Example:
“God, I pray that my child listens to Your wisdom and guidance. May they follow Your path and feel Your presence in every decision they make.”
4. 2 Timothy 1:7
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.”
Prayer Example:
“Lord, I pray that my child understands the power You’ve given them. Help them to be bold and courageous, walking in love and self-discipline through every challenge they face.”
5. Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Prayer Example:
“Father, I pray that my child trusts You completely. May they rely on Your guidance and trust that You will direct their paths, no matter what life brings.”
A Simple but Powerful Act
Praying for our kids is one of the most important things we can do as parents. Even small acts of faith, like tucking a verse under their mattress, can have a lasting impact. These prayers and verses are just a starting point— my hope is that you take these (or others too!) and adapt them to fit your child’s unique needs and personality.
Remember, the power of prayer doesn’t always need to be seen to be felt. Your prayers are making a difference in ways you might never fully know. So, don’t underestimate the value of these small acts of love and faith.
